The eagle is a majestic bird with broad wings, known for its farsightedness, perseverance, and powerful, soaring flight.

It was the winter of 1955 in George Town, Madras. Amid the bustling markets and narrow lanes, a young Mr M.J. Pratap Singh was searching for a gift, something thoughtful and enduring, for a close friend. As a former teacher, he had always believed in the power of planning and the disciplined creativity of reflecting and recording one’s thoughts and tasks. At the time, Mr Pratap Singh had recently set up a modest printing unit: a small workshop with a manually-operated treadle letterpress machine. There, surrounded by paper, ink and clattering types, he had an idea. Instead of buying something ordinary, what if he created something elegant, practical, and lasting at his own press?

Little did he know that he was creating the first eagle diary. It was built with purpose, a companion for ideas, a tool for reflection, a guide for managing time and it was made to be a priced possession for generations. When he presented it, his friend was overwhelmed with joy and cherished it. That moment of joy lit a spark in Mr. Pratap Singh. He realized that the product he made was not just practical, but deeply valued.

In 1956, with farsightedness, perseverance, and consistency in mind, he named his printing unit ‘EAGLE PRESS’. He was motivated by his experience and felt that the press needed the qualities of an Eagle to bring more overwhelming joy to his customers. What began as a heartfelt gift soon grew into a legacy.

From those modest beginnings in a small press, ‘eagle diaries’ emerged—steadily becoming one of India’s most trusted and enduring names in planning and time-management.
